MIDLIFE CRISIS Tops Bacardi Invitational J/70

(Coconut Grove, FL)- The Bacardi Invitational J/70 Winter Series kicked off this weekend at Shake-A-Leg Miami. The regatta PRO managed to run eight races over the three-day event for the twenty-eight teams from the USA, Sweden, and Hungary.

The battle for the top of the leaderboard came down to the last two races. Winning his first regatta in some time was Californian Bruce Golison and his crew on MIDLIFE CRISIS. His team consisted of fellow Californians Erik Shampain, Jeff Reynolds, and Ian Barrows. They posted four bullets on their way to the top of the podium with 22 pts net.

Sailing with his rockstar crew, David Jannetti’s TOO ODD took the silver medal with 26 pts net. His crew consisted of Willem Van Waay, Victor Diaz De Leon, and Andy Horton (Willem and Victor are two-time J/70 World Champion crew).

Rounding out the podium and taking the bronze medal with 32 pts net was Chicagoan John Heaton and his talented crew on EMPEIRIA. John’s crew consisted of Gonzalo Ribeiro, Paulo Manso, and Mark Spearman.

The balance of the top five included Doug Rastello’s GOOD TO GO in fourth place and top woman helm Maggie McKillen on her MAGATRON taking fifth place!!
